#  Chardonnay 

 

 

 This is probably the most famous, widespread and versatile white variety in the world. It comes from French Burgundy and is a genetic descendant of Pinot noir and the old, now rare Gouais blanc variety. Winemakers love it because it is like a clean painting canvas – the resulting wine bears a strong signature of how the winemaker made it in the cellar.
