#  Merlot 

 

 

 This globally loved variety comes from Bordeaux, France, where, together with Cabernet Sauvignon, it forms the basis of the most famous red wines on the planet. Its name is probably derived from the French word *merle* (thrush), because these black birds like to peck at its sweet berries. Merlot is known for its suppleness and softness, thanks to which it has won millions of fans around the world.
